Town of Cobourg, Municipality of Port Hope, Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, and Municipality of Brighton each issue their own building permit. If the land sits on County Road 2, the county may also ask for an entrance or setback permit. We will tell you that up front.

Durham Region had 696,992 people and 2,521 km² of land in the 2021 Census. Bowmanville sits inside the Municipality of Clarington. Courtice and Newcastle use that same Clarington desk. Oshawa is a different city with its own permits. Whitby is a different municipality again — if the lot is too far west, we will say so. The shop stays in Cobourg. We do not commute in from the GTA twice a month.

Which town page should I open?
Open the municipality the lot sits in. Cobourg, Port Hope, Grafton, Brighton, Bowmanville, Clarington, Oshawa, or Kawartha Lakes. If the lot is rural or you are not sure, use Northumberland or Durham Region.
Do you only build custom homes in Cobourg?
No. The shop is in Cobourg. The working radius is Northumberland County, Durham Region, and the Kawartha Lakes. If the lot is too far, we will say so.
Does the permit desk change by town?
Yes. Town of Cobourg, Municipality of Port Hope, Township of Alnwick/Haldimand, Municipality of Brighton, Municipality of Clarington, City of Oshawa, and City of Kawartha Lakes are different desks. County Road 2 land may also need a county entrance or setback permit. We stay on that file.
What if my lot sits between two towns?
